The original finish of these was a very dark brown (tinted lacquer/varnish) that all but obscures the lovely grain of the timber. This was scartched and chipped, showing the pale beech underneath. This was completely removed, the timber dyed to a similar shade, and then satin lacquered to match the durability of, and be similar to, but better than the OE finish as the grain shows through really well.
