Once these components are scratched, experience has shown that there is no point trying to repair the finish.

Modern paints always react with the coating on these parts (or possibly the grease and oil that has soaked

into the coating over the decades).

So now we just cut to the chase and strip off the old coating, clean and polish the component, and etch prime ready

for top coating:
