What a transformation!

Following on from the repair to the split fore-end, dents and scratches were steamed to reduce their visual impact, and the stock left for a couple of days to dry out slowly.

Sanding, and final smoothing with fine wire wool was next, prior to staining with American walnut wood dye. The wood was then fed with oil, and dried. Then the surface was waxed to give a satin finish.

I must say, from the starting point to end result, this is my favourite transformation so far!

Finished. Well pleased with how this turned out.
